The speedy reaction by the members of the South African Police Service in Dennilton led to the arrest of Seven suspects and the recovery of various items including, unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and a stolen vehicle.

The Police on Thursday 8 August 2019, at about 10:00 in the morning, received a tip-off about unknown suspects offloading firearms from a vehicle at a house around Five Morgan Plots.

An intelligence driven joint operation was immediately activated and on arrival at the said house, five suspects ran out towards different directions on foot but the police gave chase and they were all apprehended.

The police continued with investigations back at the house and two more suspects were found hiding. The following items were recovered:

Two rifles, two Rifle magazines, 56 live rounds, one Military belt, 13 Cell phones, five pairs of gloves, one work suit, a White polo and a Nissan white NP200 bakkie.

The Police’s preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered NP200 bakkie was reported stolen at SAPS Sinoville in Pretoria, Gauteng Province earlier this month. Further investigations will be conducted to determine the origin of the other recovered items and possible linkage of the suspects to other offences.

The suspects aged between 25 and 35, will soon appear in Moutse magistrate’s court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and possession of presumed stolen properties.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has applauded the swift reaction of members at SAPS Dennilton and indicated that the police will not rest until all dangerous criminals are removed from the society.
