The fight against Trio Crimes (house robbery, car hijacking and business robbery) was given more impetus when two suspects were apprehended in the province for possession of illegal firearms.

In Tzaneen Cluster, the police arrested two suspects both aged 29 and confiscated two firearms and four rounds of ammunition. The Tactical Intelligence driven operation was conducted on the night of 6 February 2018 at Tikiline in Maake policing precinct following an information received from members of the community.

The operation was comprising members of the Tzaneen Crime Intelligence, Detectives and the Cluster Task Team. The serial numbers on both firearms have been filed off.

The duo will be charged with possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

These firearms will be sent for ballistic examination to determine their possible involvement in other crimes.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has hailed these successes, especially the linkages that followed the arrests in Modimolle. He concluded by urging all members to continue removing illegal firearms from the hands of criminals.

The suspects will soon appear in a magistrate court.
