A 40-year-old woman was arrested in Modimolle policing area on Thursday 29 December 2022 for being in possession of dagga with estimated street value of R19 600,00.

A Tactical Intelligence Operation was executed by the Bela Bela Crime Intelligence Unit, Modimolle Crime Prevention and Public Order Policing (POPS) after receiving a tip-off about a female suspect who was on her way to distribute dagga in Modimolle policing area under Waterberg District and the teams immediately traced the suspect.

Subsequently, the suspect was intercepted in the area at about 18:00 while driving a silver grey Volkswagen VW Fox motor vehicle in possession of the dagga which was to be distributed in the area.

The suspect who it is believed to be from Nelspruit in Mpumalanga Province was immediately placed under arrest for dealing in dagga.

Further police investigations will determine the authenticity of her nationality because the dagga confiscated is originally from Swaziland and also most of the distributors are from that country.

The suspect is expected to appear before Modimolle Magistrates’ Court soon whilst police investigations are still ongoing.
