A 63 year old suspect will on Friday, 27 December 2019 appear in Lebowakgomo Magistrates’ Court after he was arrested on Tuesday, 24 December 2019 for allegedly murdering his 35 year old son at Ga-Ledwaba village outside Lebowakgomo.

The police were called to a house at about 06:00 and on arrival they found the body of the deceased lying in the yard between the family house and the back rooms.

Preliminary investigations led the police to a possible murder weapon, a blood stained axe, which was found a few meters from the body. Further investigations led to the arrest of the deceased’s father.

The father and his son were apparently drinking liquor together in the back room on Monday night, 23 December 2019 and the deceased’s body was discovered by his mother on Tuesday morning.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned this incident and has urged the investigators to dig deep to unearth all the circumstances leading up to this brutal murder.

The deceased who was staying with his parents in the same premises, has been identified as Madimetja John Ledwaba. The motive for this incident is unknown at this stage as police investigations are still unfolding but the abuse of alcohol cannot be ruled out.
