The swift reaction by members of the South African Police Service specialised units, supported by the local Farmwatch structures, made a major breakthrough when they intercepted a possible trio crime syndicate on 30 June 2019, at about 20:00.

This after the police received a tip-off from members of the community about a group of armed suspect’s en-route from Gauteng Province to Makhado Cluster, intending to commit business robberies in and around the area.

The operation comprising the Provincial Tracking Team, the Provincial Intervention Unit, SAPS Makhado, SAPS Bandelierkop, Bandelierkop Farmwatch and Soutpansberg Farmwatch, was immediately assembled and followed these suspects until they were intercepted.

Subsequently, eleven (11) suspects aged between 32 and 65 were nabbed. During the arrest, the following items were recovered:

Two motor vehicles believed to be stolen.
Eight station signal jammers.
Monitors used to control alarm system.
Angle grinder wheels, drill, balaclavas and hand gloves.

Police opened cases of conspiracy to commit business robberies, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, driving unroadworthy motor vehicle, possession of signal jamming device and possession of housebreaking equipment.

These suspects will appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate Court soon.
