The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, took time out of her busy schedule and descended to the Waterberg district to join members along with the external role players including the community based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) named, the Heritage protection group (HPG) on 12 August 2021.

This initiative followed the hard work from a multidisciplinary team, that comprised of the Saps Waterberg district members, the Saps Air-Wing, the Provincial Detectives, Farmers in the Modimolle area, the Non-Governmental Organisations, Afriforum as well as the community at large whose efforts resulted in re-arrest of the dangerous escapees in Modimolle policing area under the Waterberg District.

These escapees were apprehended in a week’s time after they escaped from the police van in the Westenburg policing area outside the City of Polokwane and linked to numerous cases including armed robberies and possession of robbed SAPS firearms.
