The South African Police Service is still winning the fight against illegal poaching wherever it manifests itself.

In Zebediela outside Lebowakgomo, three suspects aged between 26 and 35 were arrested for illegal poaching at a local farm in the early hours of today, 16 April 2018 at about 02:00.

It is alleged that the farmer heard gunshots around the farm upon which he immediately contacted the Security Officer on duty and also summoned the Police.

A joint operation ensued until a Nissan NP 200 was found parked along the road and later, an unknown man emerged from the bushes and was nabbed. The police followed up information until two of his accomplices were cornered and arrested.

The following items were recovered: 1 spotlight, 1 x bush knife, 1 x rifle, 10 x round of ammunition, 1 x firearm license, 1x NP200 vehicle and 1 x Kudu (dead with 02 gunshots).

The suspects will appear before Magatle Magistrate Court soon.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
