In a concerted effort to deal with incidents of trio crimes head on in this Province, the South African Police Service in partnership with other role players continue to engage with a no nonsense approach which is yielding positive and meaningful results.

The joint operation composed of various Police Units, the Private Security and other role players responded swiftly to a house robbery/ farm attack incident which occurred on a farm in the Letsitele Policing area outside Tzaneen where three suspects aged between 24 and 35 were arrested in the Namakgale Policing area in the outskirts of Phalaborwa.

It is alleged that on 30 December 2018, at about 06:00, the victim was in his room at the place of employment on this farm when two unknown suspects attacked him, tied him with ropes and assaulted him. They then robbed him of his belongings which include mattress, 1 x shotgun, 2 x TV’s, groceries, liquor and loaded them into a Toyota Hilux belonging to the farm owner before fleeing from the scene.

The Police were notified and the manhunt ensued until this car was spotted at Namakgale. The Police tried to stop it but it sped off until it lost control, knocked the boundary wall in one of the streets and the suspects were all apprehended.

One of the arrested suspects was found to be one of the ones who escaped in Polokwane recently while being transported by the Haenertsburg Police to court together with other four who were initially arrested. This suspect is also connected to a murder case which he allegedly committed in the Ritavi Policing area outside Tzaneen.

During the arrest, all the stolen items were recovered.

The arrested suspects will appear before the Namakgale and Nkowankowa Magistrate Courts respectively, soon.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Jim Ledwaba has complimented the Saps members, the Security members and other role players who participated in this arrest.
