Farm attack, man survives after attackers gun jams twice, Roedtan

A farm attack took place on the night of 5 December 2020, at 18:30, on a farm just North of Roedtan, in the Limpopo province of South Africa. After numerous warnings to not go outside, but to rather call for assistance, a farmer, Willie Pretorius, went to check his electrical box, which is about 30 meters from the farmhouse, after the power went out.

After turning the power back on and returning to the house the farmer was stormed by five attackers, one of the attackers put a firearm in Pretorius’s face and pulled the trigger twice. Fortunately the firearm did not go off.

Pretorius defended himself by striking out at the armed attacker and managed to get himself back into the house and salm the security gate before he was completely overpowered. He then retrieved his firearm and let off a number of warning shots causing the attackers to flee into the lands.

All role players responded and followed tracks but there were no arrests. There were also no injuries. Police are investigating. There is no other information available at this stage.
