Farm attack, man severely beaten, thrown through window, Modimolle

A farm attack took place on the night of 18 September 2021, at 22:43, on Sussenvale farm in Modimolle (Nylstroom), in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The farm manager, Duan Slingerland (19), was alerted by a noise at the sliding door of the farm owner’s home that he was looking after. As he went to investigate he was overpowered by four attackers who were already in the house.

All four attackers were armed with firearms.

One of the attackers held a firearm to Slingerland’s head, between his eyes and pulled the trigger. Fortunately the firearm misfired and the round did not go off.

Slingerland was then severely assaulted by the four and thrown through a glass window resulting in severe lacerations that caused profuse bleeding.

The attackers then dragged him back into the home and ransacked the house.

The attackers only fled in the early hours of the morning of 19 September 2021, with Slingerland’s Silver Volkswagen Polo Reg: HKT037FS.

Items that were robbed during the attack include a cell phone, wallet, TV’s, an oven, a generator and a. 22 rifle.

After the attackers left, Slingerland managed to walk barefoot to a neighbours farm for assistance. He was admitted to FH Odendaal hospital to be treated for his injuries.

All role players responded but there have been no arrests.

There is no other information available at this stage.
