Mr. De Beer was attacked on his farm at Rooibos Kloof in Groblersdal, Limpopo on 27 July 2018, at about 20:15 by five armed attackers.
Mr. De Beer was overpowered and severely assaulted by the attackers, two of whom had handguns. He was stabbed several times and tied up. He was robbed of his firearm.
A second attack also took place at another house on the same farm, but after being alerted by the dogs, the residents raised the alarm on the emergency radio.
The neighborhood watch and security companies responded and were first n the scene. Mt De Beer was rushed to hospital.
There have been no arrests and police are investigating.
