The intensified efforts by members of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, in dealing head-on with the mushrooming of drugs across the Province, led to the arrest of two suspects for possession and dealing in different hard drugs.

These suspects were arrested during the parallel intelligence- driven joint operations that were conducted in the Polokwane and Tzaneen Clusters comprised of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, the Crime Intelligence, the Drug Unit, K9 Unit and the Visible Policing.

In the Polokwane Cluster, members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit jointly with the Polokwane Crime Intelligence arrested a 43 year old Nigerian National suspected in drug dealing at one of the suburbs in the City of Polokwane and 210 sachets of nyaope drugs were recovered.

Meanwhile, in the Tzaneen Cluster, a 29 year old suspect was arrested at his house in Nkowankowa Location, during the intelligence led joint drug operation “Tsuba” conducted by members of the Tzaneen Crime Intelligence, K9 Unit, Drug Unit and Ritavi Visible Policing members.

During the arrest, the suspect was found in possession of the following drugs:

16 x packets of crystal meth.
9 X packets of cat.
20 x packets of nyaope.
16 x packets of Rock.
8 x packets of dagga.

Cash amounting to R6 900, believed to be proceeds from the sale of these drugs, was also confiscated.

The two suspects are expected to appear before the Polokwane and Tzaneen Magistrate Courts soon.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Jim Ledwaba, has commended these teams of members on their endless fight against the scourge of drugs in the Province. “The Saps will continue working closely with the communities in this war”, concluded General Ledwaba.
