The Police in Letsitele outside Tzaneen has launched a manhunt for the two unknown suspects who instigated a farm attack on Friday, April 14, on a farm situated outside Tzaneen.

Reports indicate that two suspects gained access into the farmhouse around 14:00 and attacked the Van Der Merwe family. Two of the victims aged 76 years and 78 years were in the house and were hit with sharp instruments. The elderly lady was stabbed, and the old gentleman was hit with a sharp object before the suspects tied them up.

The suspects demanded money and searched the house. The suspects fled with cell phones and the car keys.

During the attack, the Van Der Merwe’s son managed to get to their neighbor and alert the police.

Community security and police responded to the incident, and the elderly couple was transferred to hospital. Mrs. Van Der Merwe is seriously injured while her husband is less severe. Both are currently in the hospital.
