A 74-year-old woman sustained a serious injury when a family was attacked on a farm in Tarentaalrand, Tzaneen.
Shortly before 3pm, paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found bystanders attending to the woman. She was found with a serious knife wound between her neck and shoulder.
It is understood that her son was sitting in the lounge when an unknown amount of men entered the home and attacked him. The woman and her husband came to his aid and were also attacked. According to the woman, she tried to run outside when she was attacked.
Paramedics found her in the road outside their house. She was stabilised on scene and rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Her son and husband sustained only minor scrapes and bruises in the incident.
Several community members were present on the scene and assisted local authorities in the search for the suspects.
