A loved resident of Modimolle, Limpopo, the 73 year old Trudie Grabe (73), was stabbed multiple times in her yard in Emma street on Friday and she died without anyone noticing. She was also hit over the head with a blunt object.
Tannie Grabe, known as the ” dieretannie”, cared for animals at her home and made an income with grooming and cutting the hair of pet dogs. She previously ran a pet shop in town but closed the doors of the business some time ago. She was well known as a big animal lover. Grabe also cared for her sickly and partially deaf husband Dolf who is 75 years old. He was inside the house and did not know what happened until Tannie Grabe’s body was discovered and he was informed by residents.
He was later taken to the old age home as he can not care for himself. Tannie Grabe’s body was discovered when a client wanted to drop her dog on Friday morning around 1000 and Tannie Grabe did not open the gate as she usually does. The client became worried as she knew that the couple is elderly and called for help.
The Police found Tannie Grabe’s body where it was lying in the backyard. It is unknown if anything was stolen. It is suspected Tannie Grabe was murdered between 0700 and 1000.
A black man with a purple shirt and black trousers was noticed in Emma Street on Friday. The Grabe couple’s only child died about 3 years ago. Some of the dogs being cared for by Tannie Grabe were fetched by their owners on Friday.
