Drugs worth R93 million seized in Limpopo

Members from the Port of Entry in Limpopo followed up information on Monday, 23 May 2016, about a suspected vehicle that might be transporting drugs.

A look-out for the vehicle was given and it was spotted and intercepted by members from Bulgerivier SAPS. A very thorough search of the vehicle followed and members confiscated cash of R139 900-00 and $10 000-00 US Dollars hidden in the door panels.

Members also found hidden panels behind the back seats as well as on the back of the Nissan P300 bakkie. The search revealed a total of 93 × 1kg bags of heroin to an estimated value of R93 million.

The driver of the bakkie, a 33-year-old man from Tanzania with a Lesotho passport was arrested and will be appearing in the Lephalale Magistrates’ Court today on charges of possession, smuggling and dealing in drugs.
