Two Pakistani nationals aged 24 and 28 were nabbed on 7 February 2019, for the Kidnapping and murder of a 36 year old woman, Precious Mohlale Magagane. The deceased, from ga-Mahlakwane village in the Burgersfort Cluster, went missing on 23 December 2018. The two were arrested following an intensive Crime Intelligence driven operation that was conducted soon after it emerged that certain suspects could be involved in her disappearance.

The sterling detective work by our operatives led to the discovery of the remains believed to be that of the deceased. These dismembered remains were found disposed of at various places in the area along the Burgersfort Lydenburg road. The recovered remains will be subjected to DNA analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory.

The police have recovered a 9mm pistol, ammunition and a motor vehicle. A cell phone belonging to the deceased was also recovered from the seized vehicle. The motive for this gruesome murder is unknown at this stage.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers, has commended all members involved in solving the case and went further to thank members of the community for providing the necessary valuable information.

The suspects have today appeared in Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on charges of Kidnapping, Murder, Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and Possession of suspected stolen property. Both suspects were remanded in custody until 15 February 2019 for further police investigations.
