The three suspects who were arrested by the Police in Dennilton on Thursday 4 August 2022, are expected to appear in Moutse Magistrate Court on Monday 8 August 2022 facing charges of possession of illegal firearm.

The suspects, aged between 32 and 34 were arrested during police operation that was conducted in the Dennilton area on Thursday night.

The members reportedly spotted a suspicious motor vehicle along the R25 road in the Dennilton policing precinct at about 22:45. They then tactically stopped the vehicle and found three occupants. Upon searching the vehicle, they recovered unlicensed firearm with empty magazine. The three suspects were immediately arrested.

Preliminary Police investigations revealed that the said motor vehicle belongs to one of the suspects but it has been seized by the police for purposes of conducting further investigations to determine if it is not connected to any acts of criminality.

The firearm had serial numbers filed off and it will be subjected to ballistic investigations to determine if it was previously used in the commission of other serious crimes.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the members for arresting these suspects and fearlessly performing their daily activities of keeping the citizens of this province safe.
