The Limpopo Police welcomed the harsh sentence imposed on one of the most dangerous criminals in the Province.

The Polokwane High Court handed Welcome Mohlala aged 26 years old with an effective twenty years imprisonment after he was found guilty on several charges ranging from housebreaking with intent to kidnap, Kidnapping, four counts of rape and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Mohlala who hails from Tafelkop Bapeding Section, subjected women from the age of 15 years upwards in and around the Tafelkop area outside Groblersdal to his reign of terror between the years 2013 and 2017.

The accused used the same modus operandi where he would target vulnerable women walking in secluded areas and threatened them before raping them.

The tireless efforts made by the Dedicated Detectives from Motetema Police Station and the Groblersdal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit led to the positive linkage of the accused to all the charges laid against him.

The SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the joint effort by all the role players and stressed that this sentencing will serve as an impediment to all those who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.

“We hope this jail term will bring a relief to those affected especially now that the heartless criminal will be where he belongs”, concluded General Ledwaba.
