The fight against Trio Crimes was earlier today, put to another level when five suspects were arrested and stolen properties worth thousands of rands confiscated during the intelligence driven operations. These targeted operations were conducted in the Motetema and Hoedspruit policing precincts.

Police followed up on information that led them to different locations where the following arrests and confiscations were made:

In Motetema two men aged 30 and 45, were apprehended and a Laptop, Plasma TV and a DVD recorder were seized. Preliminary investigations revealed that the properties were stolen during house robberies committed around Motetema. The duo was also positively linked to other cases of house robbery in the area.

The suspects will appear before Motetema Magistrate’s Court on Monday 29 October 2018, to face charges of house robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties.

Meanwhile in Hoedspruit outside Giyani, three suspects aged between 32 and 38, were arrested by the station Detectives after they were successfully tracked down in Namakgale.

The arrest of the trio follows an incident that took place on 16 October 2018, inside one of the local clothing stores where four men wearing balaclavas threatened two employees with a firearm, tied them up and wore their uniform as a disguise while the fifth suspect was waiting in a vehicle. They told customers that they were still packing stock and demanded keys for the safe from the victims.

The culprits managed to get away with cash amount of R9 400, 72 cell phones and clothes all valued at R80000.

The police are still on a hunt for the remaining two suspects and appeal to anyone with information to contact Detective Constable Happy Mahlangu at 082 836 6696, the police emergency number 0860010111, Crime Sms Line 32211 or the nearest police station.

The three suspects will appear before Hoedspruit Periodical Court on Monday 2018-10-29, to face charges business robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties.
