The police are searching for three suspects who on Thursday night April 27, attacked a couple on their farm in the Lephalale area, Naboomspruit.
A man (73) and his wife (58) were overpowered by four armed suspects who held them at gunpoint, assaulted the couple and tied them up.
The suspects fled with firearms, and other valuable household items.
The man struggled to free himself but eventually managed to, and grabbed a gun that was hidden in the house and fired shots at the fleeing suspects. One of the suspects was hit, the suspects threw down the stolen items apart from a cell phone and fled on foot.
The police were called to the scene and followed the tracks of the suspects where a 20-year-old man was found dead alongside the road.
An extensive search by the farming community and police is underway for the three suspects.
