An intell driven operation was conducted by the SAPS Pienaarsrivier Crime Prevention Unit members where five suspects aged between 22 and 36 all from the Hamanskraal area in the Gauteng Province were arrested yesterday.
They were arrested for an attempted armed robbery that took place on the R128 road in the Pienaarsrivier Policing area.
After the arrest, an intensive interview was conducted until they revealed that the firearm used was hidden inside a blue Toyota Tazz.
The vehicle was immediately traced, found and searched. One unlicensed firearm with three live rounds of ammunition was found inside the vehicle and the estimated value of goods seized is R35000,00.
They are connected to a series of cases of possession of firearm and ammunition without a license and armed robberies in Pienaarsrivier, Gauteng and Mpumalanga Provinces.
This suspects will appear before the Pienaarsrivier Magistrates’ Court on Monday and investigations continue.
