The business robbery suspect aged 27 was fatally shot in the Saselamani policing area outside Thohoyandou during a shootout with the police.

The incident happened at Magomani village after the deceased reportedly robbed a foreign businessman at his spaza shop an undisclosed amount of cash at gunpoint and fled the scene riding a bicycle. The police were notified and reacted swiftly by following this suspect.

Subsequently, the suspect managed to hide in a one roomed house when he was spotted by police. On their arrival, he started firing shots at the police who retaliated and he untimely died with gunshot wounds.

Police found one Revolver pistol with three live ammunition and robbed items in possession of the deceased.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Christine Morakaladi has cautioned the would be criminals to know that the police will not be able to compromise their safety and the public safety when dealing with the violent and serious incidents of crimes. “The Police are still going to deal decisively with all criminals who are trying their luck in terrorising our communities including the business community”, concluded General Morakaladi.
