The Police in Westenburg with the assistance of the local community outside Polokwane have made a major breakthrough in arresting a 25 year old man who is believed to be amongst the people who are terrorizing members of the Community through impersonating Police and subsequently robbing them of valuable items.
The suspect was arrested after he and his accomplice gave a man a lift from the Game Centre in the Polokwane CBD along Market Street.
The two suspects drove with him until they reached a suburb outside the CBD area where they produced a Police appointment certificate, pointed him with a firearm, demanded money and during the process, the man screamed for help and the community reacted swiftly and apprehended the one suspect while his accomplice drove away with a white Ford Fiesta with unknown registration numbers.
The Police were notified and arrested the suspect.
The second suspect was identified and he is still being traced. Police investigations continue.
The arrested suspect will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon for attempted armed robbery and impersonating Police.
Members of the Community are urged to come forward with information and to contact the nearest Police Station immediately or the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211.
