The Polokwane High Court has sentenced a 19 year old man Kamogelo Collins Mashabela to life imprisonment and additional 20 years imprisonment for murder, attempted murder and arson, which occurred on 5 March 2019.

The sentencing emanate from the incident when the accused had a heated argument with the deceased’s mother which ended up with a fight. The woman managed to escape with minor injuries. Subsequently, the accused torched the house with a flammable liquid while the two year old baby was inside.

The Police were summoned to the scene and reacted swiftly. On their arrival, they found the house already on fire. The toddler was rescued but later succumbed to the injuries.

The case was assigned to Detective Warrant Officer Hlakole Frank Makola who immediately started with the investigations and manhunt for the suspect until he was arrested.
