In a concerted effort to fight the scourge of theft of cables, the police in Mphephu embarked on an intelligence driven operation on Tuesday 8 May 2018, resulting in positive results.

During this operation, a 35 year old suspect was arrested at his homestead in Phadzima, Madzhadzhani in Nzhelele outside Louis Trichardt after he was found in possession of eight rolls of copper cables believed to be the property of Eskom.

Subsequent investigations led to an arrest of another 45 year old suspect from Shayandima in Thohoyandou, believed to be an accomplice.

The estimated value of the copper cables is R190 00.00. These suspects will appear in Dzanani Magistrate Court on charges of theft of cables and possession of suspected stolen properties soon.

The police investigations are continuing.
