The Police in Sekhukhune District foiled a planned robbery and apprehended five armed male suspects aged between 22 and 45 in possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition on Tuesday 6 December 2022.

Members of the SAPS Limpopo Highway Patrol Unit (LHP) received an information from the community about the suspicious motor vehicle, a Fiat Uno that was roaming around Manapyane and Mamphokgo villages.

The members tactically drove around the streets and successfully found the suspected Fiat in a certain homestead. They then strategically approached the occupants and in the process of searching the suspects, they found two unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.

One revolver was positively linked with Westenburg case number and the other revolver was discovered with a serial number filled off.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended members for their commitment and hard work.

The suspects are expected to appear before court soon facing charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as conspiracy to commit crime.

Police investigations are continuing.
