The Police in Polokwane are searching for the mother of a baby who was found abandoned in one of the food outlets in the the City of Polokwane on 6 April 2019.

It is alleged that around 13:00, one of the customers in the outlet went to the toilet and on arrival, she was shocked to find the baby, placed on the floor, wearing a jersey and wrapped in a blanket. She then alerted employees of the outlet who immediately summoned the Police.

The Police responded swiftly, found a baby boy who might be a few days old, and took him to the Hospital for medical assistance.

The motive behind this incident is still unknown at this stage however police investigation continues. A case of child neglect was opened but the mother is still unknown and there is no arrest.
