Scores of disgruntled ANC members protested outside the party’s provincial offices in Polokwane on Monday, accusing regional leaders of registering bogus delegates ahead of the upcoming regional Peter Mokaba regional conference.
Protesters claim the current leadership has failed to address disputes fairly, with only 43 of 103 branches properly registered so far. Some members allege manipulation, including bouncers blocking legitimate attendees from branch meetings.
“We want our disputes escalated to the provincial level because the regional leaders have vested interests,” said one protester. Others fear the controversy could harm the ANC’s performance in the 2026 local elections if unresolved.
The regional conference is set for this weekend, but some members are demanding a postponement. The ANC in Limpopo has not yet responded to the allegations.
