An alleged vehicle dealership fraudster (24) is expected to appear before Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today, 03 January 2023 on the charge of fraud.

During April 2023, the suspect allegedly used fraudulent bank statement and payslip to apply for a motor vehicle finance at WESBANK. The application was successfully processed and subsequent to that, he purchased a Ford Ranger Raptor valued at over R1.3 million.

During an audit, it was revealed that the payslip and bank statement were false. The matter was reported to the Polokwane based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for assistance. The Hawks probed the matter and arrested the suspect at Polokwane on Tuesday, 02 January 2024.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province, Major General (Adv) Gopz Govender hailed the investigators for the wonderful job in ensuring that the perpetrator is facing the mighty hand of the law.
