Hawks swoop on police killers

On Sunday, July 10, Ackermans, situated in the main street of Bela-Bela, once again was targeted by criminals.

Bela-Bela police detectives’ commander Lieutenant-Colonel Abel Phetla said that two men entered the store around 12:00 and pretended to be customers. After a short while, they pointed firearms at the staff, and another two armed men entered the store.

The robbers demanded cash and cell phones, and they were taken to the safe, the suspects kept the staff in a storeroom.

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money, clothes, and mobile phones.

No one was injured during the robbery, Phetla said.

Last year, the police arrested six suspected robbers after the store was targeted.
