The police in Limpopo have arrested 948 suspects during intelligence driven joint operations that were conducted over the past week, ending 15 September 2018. This in a concerted effort to stabilize and normalize the crime situation in the areas that are mostly affected.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 57, were nabbed for various offences ranging from murder, attempted murder, rape, Illegal Immigration Act, armed robbery, fraud, trading without license, theft, Road Traffic Act, burglary residents and businesses, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, public drinking, possession of dagga, contravention of liquor Act, possession and dealing in dagga to stock theft.

The highlight of these arrests was the apprehension of two suspects aged 24 and 26. The two were arrested for business robbery In the Senwabarwana Policing precinct outside Polokwane and were subsequently linked to ten more cases of business and house robberies.

The arrest of the two will bring relief to the affected communities after they were subjected to a spate of robberies during the previous months. The car that is believed to have been used during these robberies was also confiscated.

These operations were conducted through road blocks, stop and searches, tracing of wanted suspects and raiding of unlicensed businesses.

The arrested suspects have already started appearing before different Magistrate Courts throughout the Province facing various offences.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has commended members for ensuring that Limpopo residents are at all times kept safe and has vowed that these operations will continue until crime is completely normalized throughout the Province.
