The continuous police weekly operations that are being conducted across the Province in Limpopo have once again yielded positive results as 878 suspects aged between 21 and 58 were arrested for various crimes including murder, attempted murder, sexual assault, assault GBH, business robbery, arson, malicious damage to property, drug related crimes and other serious crimes.
The latest operations were conducted from Saturday 22 May 2021 until this morning, 30 May 2021.
▪️In Bandelierkop outside Louis Trichardt, the police arrested a 33 year old taxi operator on Friday night, 29 May 2021 at 18:30 for allegedly shooting and killing a man and his son in an apparent road rage that reportedly commenced along the N1 road between Makhado and Polokwane. The incident ended at a filling station where the suspect allegedly produced a firearm and shot both men. The deceased were identified as Mr Andrew Duvenhage aged 52 and his son Danie aged 29.
▪️In Roossenekal outside Groblersdal, members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol (LHP), Roossenekal detectives and crime prevention units assisted by Crime Intelligence arrested four suspects soon after they allegedly committed a business robbery at a liquor outlet on Friday 28 May 2021. Four firearms, including two self-made shotguns and twenty six (26) ammunition were recovered during the arrests. The suspects aged between 23 and 28 will appear in Groblersdal magistrate court tomorrow, Monday 31 May 2021.
▪️Two suspects aged 29 and 30 were arrested, one in Gauteng and the other at gaMasha, for brutally killing a man with bricks at Mphanama Cross following an alleged gambling activity in the area under Masemola policing precinct.
▪️A 35-year-old woman was arrested at Leeuwfontein under Motetema policing area outside Groblersdal after she was found in possession of 159 sachets of Nyaope, 25 sachets of Crystal meth and 0,5 grams of dagga.
* The following confiscations were made: a total of 11 firearms, 617 064 sticks of illicit cigarettes, 5 dangerous weapons, 36 249 grams of dagga, 14 grams of Nyaope, 696 342L of liquor, 17 Knives, 5 stolen/robbed vehicles recovered.*
During the course of the operations, the police also attended to 253 incidents of Domestic violence and served a total of 223 Protection Orders.
In an effort to deal with factors that often contribute to contact crimes, the police conducted compliance inspections at 3021 liquor premises and 51 were dealt under the Liquor Control.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Province, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the members for always responding to the information provided and arresting the suspects. Lieutenant General Hadebe also thanked community members for continuously assisting the police in the fight against crime.
The arrested suspects will appear in different magistrate courts around the Province. The next phase of the operations have already begun.
