The Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lt.Gen Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the men and women in blue after ensuring that the Easter weekend was celebrated in a peaceful manner. This after a total number of forty five suspects aged between 17 and 45 were arrested for various offenses during “Operation Paseka”

These operations were conducted over the Easter weekend and were targeted at identified hotspots in all clusters throughout the province. Road blocks, stop and searches, raiding of liquor outlets including tracing of wanted suspects were fully implemented during the operations.

The suspects were arrested for crimes such as house and business robberies, murder, rape, possession of unlicensed firearms, pointing of firearm, drugs, dagga, suspected possession of stolen properties and public drinking.

In Mahwelereng Cluster, Intelligence-driven joint and tactical operation led to the arrest of three men aged between 17 and 45 in Mahwelereng Zone 2 for allegedly committing an armed robbery and pointing of firearm at a local businessman.

Meanwhile in Groblersdal Cluster, four men were arrested after they were found in possession of suspected stolen properties and house breaking instruments.

The arrest emanated from a swift reaction by Nebo Detectives through a tip-off about suspicious activities at Lepelle Northern Water plant in Motseleope vicinity.

En-route to the water plant, police met a suspicious vehicle that was stopped and searched. They found electric cables and passengers who could not provide satisfactory explanation about the origin of the cables and were immediately arrested.

The arrested suspects will appear at different magistrate courts around the province from Tuesday, 23 April 2019.

“These arrests clearly indicate that we are serious about ridding our communities of all criminal elements. We have adopted a no nonsense approach to criminality and everyone is cautioned that we are out to get them,” he concluded.
