The Police in Leboeng have arrested four suspects aged between 21 and 56 for murder on Thursday 25 May 2023 in Kgautswane village outside Burgersfort.

It is reported that Members of Detective Unit conducted a manhunt operation on Thursday 25 May 2023 to track down the suspects identified for a murder emanating from a mob justice incident at Kautswane village during March 2023.

It is reported that the mob justice incident occurred following a family dispute between the man and his wife. It is alleged that the man was brutally assaulted by his wife and children and ended up being admitted at the hospital.

It is alleged that the victim of assault was later reported missing while he was at his brother’s house after being discharged from the hospital and subsequently the community mobilized on Sunday 26 March 2023 and attacked a 54-year-old man accusing him for kidnapping the victim of assault.

A 53-year-old male suspect a Ward Councillor was arrested and was later released by the Court due to insufficient evidence that can link him with the killing of the victim.

The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the team for their dedication and hard work in bringing the perpetrators of mob justice to book.

The police are hard on the heels of the two outstanding suspects to be arrested.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear before Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Monday 29 May 2023 facing charges of murder.
