The Police in Musina have arrested two male foreign Nationals aged 31 and 32 for being in possession of illicit cigarettes and Contravention of Immigration Act on Thursday, 04 May 2023 at Bergview village.

It is reported that members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit received an intelligence information about a storage of illicit cigarettes at Bergview in Musina.

The information was operationalized in the early hours which led to the arrest of the two suspects in possession of about one thousand and five hundred boxes of the illicit cigarettes with an estimated street value of R500 000-00.

The suspects are expected to appear before Musina Magistrate’s Court for possession of illicit cigarettes on Friday 5 May 2023.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers is pleased about the ongoing arrests that are effected across the province in the fight against illegal trading of cigarettes.

Police investigations are continuing.
