
An 18-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 March 2026, on a charge of murder. The case stems from the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in Mphamme village, which falls under the Maake policing area in the Mopani District.
The stabbing occurred on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, at approximately 20:00. According to reports, both the deceased and the suspect are learners at the same secondary school. The altercation is believed to have originated on the school premises before escalating. During the confrontation, the victim was allegedly stabbed in the chest with a sharp object and was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Thursday, 26 March 2026, at around 12:00, members of the Mopani Tracking Team, in coordination with Maake Detectives, acted on information and traced the suspect to Ga-Sekororo, Bismarck village, where he was apprehended.
The suspect remains in police custody.
