The police in Polokwane have on Monday 1 June 2020, launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects who are apparently moving around the farms on the outskirts of Polokwane, slaughtering cattle possibly for their meat.

A total of twelve cattle were found slaughtered on a farm outside Polokwane on Saturday 30 May 2020 and Monday 1 June 2020.

Eight carcasses were found in the early hours of 2 June 2020, at around 01:00 on a farm which is situated next to the Silicon road. The suspects were apparently disturbed as they left all the carcasses and instruments they used to dismember the animals. The other three cattle were found slaughtered on Saturday, 30 May 2020 on the same farm. The suspects in this incident managed to take the carcasses and left only small portions.

The police received information from the cattle herds soon after midnight, complaining that they can’t locate a number of cattle on the said farm. This after the three cattle were found slaughtered on Saturday. On arrival, they started to conduct searches on the farm and then discovered the carcasses.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has instructed that the suspects be hunted down until they are brought to book.
