A law firm, Ngcebetsha Madlanga Attorneys, was paid R103 million for a legal opinion about the termination of the Life Esidimeni contract, and for two court appearances in which the transfer of patients to inappropriate institutions occurred and where 144 were left dead.
Nearly R500 000 a month has been paid over 22 months, while their advice did not help with the failure at the institution.
