The current ANC head of state, Jacob Zuma, plans to step down as president and continue his political career as mayor of Nkandla.

During the funeral service of Riot Mkhawanazi in Kwazulu-Natal this weekend, Zuma said that it was his aspiration to be mayor.

This will not help him to stay out of jail, once the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) proceed with the prosecution on the long-overdue pending charges against him. The president of the country has indemnity from prosecution but not even a minister can claim indemnity, such as in the case of Pravin Gordhan.

The position of mayor will most likely contribute to keeping Zuma’s wallet full enough for the upkeep of the Nkandla palace and other household expenditure, since some mayors in the country, deserve more than a president.
