A Yellowwood Park father was lucky to escape a shooting uninjured when armed robbers opened fire on him after assaulting him and his children during a traumatising home invasion last night.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the man was busy assisting his children with their homework when the suspects forced their way onto the Sandpiper Street property at around 7pm.

“Three armed men arrived in a white Renault with GP number plates and jumped over the driveway gate before forcing open the security gate to get into the house,” Mathios said. “The suspects assaulted the dad who was busy doing homework with his youngest son, and when his daughter came out of her bedroom they kicked her in the head. They ransacked the house and fled with a television and jewellery.”

“The suspects took the remote to open the driveway gate to get out, but just before they left one of the suspects turned around and fired several shots at the dad who had run to his vehicle. Fortunately the shots missed him. Rescue Care paramedics attended the scene to attend to the victims’ assault injuries,” Mathios said.

Montclair SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
