A 39 year old man was seriously injured after his arm was partially severed during an altercation with his colleague at their year end party at Hazelmere Dam in Verulam, KZN.

At approximately 14:11 on Saturday 15 December 2018, the Reaction Unit South Africa received multiple calls from the public requesting assistance for the victim who was bleeding profusely from his head and arm.

Reaction Officers and Medics were dispatched to the scene and were flagged down by the occupants of an Opel Corsa who had loaded the victim in his vehicle and were transporting him to hospital. Medics treated the man for an open wound to his head and a partial amputation to his left arm.

The victim’s colleagues informed Reaction Officers that they were all employed as drivers for trucking companies in Verulam. They had met at the dam to celebrate their annual shut down earlier today. Both men were heavily intoxicated when an argument broke out between them.

During the argument both individuals began assaulting each other. The suspect then struck the victim on his head and arm with a panga before he fled the scene on foot.

Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspect however he still remains at large.
