A 23 year old woman suffered minor injuries after she was dragged by a black VW Polo on Moss Street in the Verulam CBD on Monday night, 25 May 2020.
At approximately 18:03 Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received information of the incident. Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene and on arrival met with the victim who explained that while using the ATM she was distracted by someone behind her. When she turned back to complete her transaction she realized that her ATM card had been stolen.
She noticed the suspects getting into a black VW Polo and ran towards them. The victims hand got caught in the door while one of the suspects was in the process of closing it. When the vehicle sped off she was dragged several meters before she managed to free her hand. The victim did not require medical attention.
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects however no arrests were made.
