Woman Attempts to Flee Moving Vehicle During Heated Argument in Verulam

A 35-year-old woman narrowly escaped harm after attempting to jump from a moving vehicle during a violent altercation with her boyfriend in Verulam earlier today.

The incident unfolded on Russom Street when Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers noticed the woman hanging out of the passenger door of a silver Ford Ranger bakkie. The vehicle abruptly stopped, prompting officers to intervene.

Upon approaching the distressed woman, officers learned that the couple had been embroiled in a heated argument over allegations of infidelity. The boyfriend reportedly accused her of rekindling a relationship with an ex-partner after discovering text messages between the two.

Fearing for her safety, the woman claimed her partner intended to assault or even kill her. As the bakkie neared RUSA Headquarters, she made a desperate attempt to escape by jumping out. She refused to leave with the man and instead contacted her family to take her to a secure location.

The victim has expressed her intention to seek a Protection Order against her boyfriend.

No arrests have been made at this stage. Authorities have urged individuals in abusive relationships to seek assistance from local law enforcement or support organizations.
