At approximately 00:19 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Jacaranda Avenue in Mountview, Verulam, after receiving reports of a woman being robbed.
Upon arrival Officers found a 47 year old female bleeding from a wound to her head.
She informed Officers that she had just completed her shift at work and was walking to her home in Parkgate when she was accosted by an African male. The suspect began assaulting the victim with a blunt object on her head. He then robbed her of her cellphone and her handbag before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
She was treated on scene by paramedics and was transported to a local hospital for further medical attention.
Reaction Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspect however no arrests were made.
