HOUSE ROBBERY – A 77-year-old woman has sustained serious injuries after she was assaulted by unknown men at her home in Umkomaas at about 4pm today.
Reports from the scene indicate that the woman was assaulted with a hoe – a long-handled gardening tool with a thin metal blade, used mainly for weeding.
It is reported that the men robbed the woman of some of her belongings.
Netcare911 paramedics managed to stabilise the seriously wounded elderly woman on scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
The exact detail to the cause of the assault will form part of a SAPS investigation and comment.
