Westville campus, Kwazulu-Natal has closed for the day. Protests at the university have done an estimated R500k damage today alone.

Other UKZN Campuses are also affected. Petrol bombs discovered at some campuses.

CICA is of the opinion that approx 115 “students” are intent on creating disruption as part of a larger plan to cause national instability so that corrupt politicians have reason to declare a police state via a “state of emergency”

If this was not the case the “students” would be focusing their riots and damage to property on government facilities not on educational institutions

SUSPENSION OF THE ACADEMIC PROGRAMME ON THE WESTVILLE CAMPUS
________________________________________
To the University Community

In an effort to restore calm on the Westville Campus, all academic activities have been suspended for today, 10 October 2016 with immediate effect. Please note that the suspension is for today and is until further notice. It is hoped that during this period we will be able to locate and arrest those individuals that are perpetuating violence on the Campus.

We caution the University Community to desist from engaging in unlawful protest action. Please be advised that action will be taken against any individuals found to be in contravention of the High Court interdict in place.

A strong security presence is being maintained on all of our campuses.

The University Management apologises for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

Regards,
