A joint operation which comprised of the Hawks, Crime Intelligence, National Intervention Unit, Provincial Investigations and Tracking Task Team, National Stabilisation Team, Metro and Ethekwini District Task Team was held in Wentworth on the night of 7 September 2022.

At Woodville Road in Wentworth police operationalized information about a group of suspects who were wanted for murder, attempted murder and dealing in drugs.

Upon arrival at the identified premises, police conducted a search resulting in the recovery of 420 capsules containing heroin worth R10 000-00 as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.

A 22–year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of drugs. He appeared before Durban Magistrate’s Court recently and he was remanded in custody until 19 September 2022.

In a separate incident, a second suspect (19) was found at another address and arrested for a murder case that he committed on 30 April 2021, where a 19-year-old man was shot and killed in Woodville Road.

The suspect was initially arrested on the day of the incident however he was granted bail. He made several appearances at the Durban Magistrate’s Court until he absconded.

A warrant of arrest was issued by the court and he was re-arrested during the operation. He appeared before Durban Magistrate’s Court recently and he was remanded in custody until his trial resumes.
