A 41 year old Indian male was arrested this morning Thursday, 21 June 2018, at approx 07:42 by Members of Reaction Unit South Africa after he absconded from the Verulam Magistrates Court eleven years ago whilst facing charges of rape.

The suspect was spotted this morning by a Reaction Officer after the information was circulated to RUSA Members by a Police Detective six months ago.

The Police Officer from a Specialized Unit requested that Reaction Officers lookout for the man after he had raped an elderly woman in 2007. He was arrested but failed to appear in court after being granted bail. Reaction Officers had been searching for the man for several months and eventually received information that he had fled to Johannesburg.

He was arrested this morning and handed back to the Investigation Officer. The suspect has multiple charges of theft, fraud, rape and other cases that were opened against him in Kwazulu Natal.

He was arrested at a garage this morning on Todd Street, Verulam whilst waiting for transport to his work place in Mt Edgecombe,KZN.

It was his first day at his job at a call center.

The suspect was detained at SAPS verulam.
