A 24 year old man is in a serious but stable condition after he was repeatedly stabbed and assaulted during a robbery on Estuary Drive in Phoenix on Tuesday 4 December 2018.

At approximately 13:05 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by a member of public requesting assistance for the man who was bleeding excessively from his wounds. Upon arrival the Metro Police were in attendance. Medics treated the victim for injuries which consisted of stab wounds to his face, chest and back.

He explained that he is a resident of Choppers Town near Mt. Moreland and was selling mushrooms in Phoenix, KZN when he decided to visit his mother who lives in the area. Shortly after leaving her residence he was was accosted by six men while walking on Phoenix Highway.

Without warning one suspect drew a knife and started stabbing him while the remaining men began assaulting him. During the attack the victim was robbed of R2000 in cash and his Samsung cellphone. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. The victim sought assistance from employees of a panel beating business that is being run from a home on Eastbury Drive.

An extensive search was conducted for the suspects however they still remain at large.
